Statement
My work is mostly based around literature and words. I like to choose
a theme then play with words relating to that theme, to create something
which is amusing or ironic. These pieces are usually collage based,
utilising all sorts of found images and materials. This type of
work has included titles such as 'Can't See the Wood for the Trees',
for a Haworth Art Gallery Open Exhibition 'The Tree', and 'Are You
Well Red' (a study of Dyslexia), for the 'Red' Exhibition at The
West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds.
I also work in Acrylics and Watercolours, with a more figurative
approach. These are often inspired by childhood holiday photos,
beach scenes with stark contrast between light and shade and snap
shot compositions.
