Statement
Inspiration for my work comes from a combination the landscape,
weather and a strong interest in colour. Bold and vibrant colours
emphasise the rugged forms of the dramatic landscape that surrounds
my home. Many paintings have textured and scratched surfaces coloured
with layers of coloured glazes. The rhythmic patterns of dry stone
walls over the land often feature as natural divisions of colour
fields. There is often a band of light visible above a contrasting
dark edge of moorland and this feature is present in many of my
paintings. The weather is a constant theme and inspiration. Sometimes
dogs and horses also manage to creep into the picture!
