The joy and excitement of painting never ceases to amaze me, the wonderful never ending journey of discovery, never knowing what my next painting will be about.

Certain connecting threads run through my work and I find myself returning again and again to particular themes. The ideas of ageing, life as a race against time, seeking to find beauty out of ugliness, order out of chaos, constantly sorting and arranging.

Within these ideas, flowers and plants keep appearing and reappearing, the paintings are as much about love, passion, colour, shape....(continued below)

and the pure delight of paint as about the flowers themselves. They are worked in layers, quickly and spontaneously, with no particular idea of the outcome, they are just pure indulgence on my part.
